Gum Recession Treatment

Step-by-Step Care

Treatment may include tartar removal and deep cleaning (closed or open curettage) to eliminate bacteria and deposits that cause inflammation. In more severe cases, surgical procedures or regenerative techniques—such as bone grafting—may also be required.

Step 1

Diagnosis & Assessment

Your dentist performs a thorough examination to check tooth mobility, gum recession and bone loss. X-rays give a clear picture of the supporting tissues.

Step 2

Tartar & Plaque Removal

All tooth surfaces are carefully cleaned with ultrasonic and manual instruments to remove deposits that trigger inflammation and allow the gums to start healing.

Step 3

Deep Cleaning (Curettage)

Bacterial deposits and infected tissue beneath the gumline are removed. The procedure can be done as a closed (no gum incision) or open (surgical flap) curettage.

Step 4

Anti-inflammatory & Antibiotic Therapy

Local antibacterial gels or systemic antibiotics reduce bacterial load and support gum regeneration, especially in advanced cases.

Step 5

Regenerative Surgery

When bone or periodontal tissues are severely damaged, techniques such as bone grafting or guided tissue regeneration help rebuild support and improve tooth stability.

Step 6

Maintenance & Regular Check-ups

Ongoing care is essential: professional cleanings every 3–6 months and consistent home hygiene help prevent the disease from returning.

Frequently Asked Questions about Periodontics

Helpful tips

We have collected the most common questions about periodontal treatments to give you a clear picture of the process and available options. Our goal is to ensure you arrive at our clinic well-informed, confident, and at ease.

Recommended for minor aesthetic issues such as mild discoloration, small gaps between teeth or chipped edges. Ideal for anyone seeking a quick, minimally invasive cosmetic correction.

The dentist builds up the composite material in thin layers directly on the tooth surface, hardening each layer with UV light. Afterwards the veneer is shaped and polished for a natural finish.

Usually completed in a single dental visit—typically 1–2 hours depending on how many teeth are treated and how much correction is needed.

With proper care, direct veneers can last 8–10 years. Longevity depends on the dentist’s skill, material quality and your oral-hygiene habits.

It delivers fast, attractive results without significant removal of tooth material. Perfect for younger patients or anyone with minor cosmetic issues. It’s less durable than porcelain veneers and not suitable for teeth with severe discoloration or extensive fillings.

Yes. Over time coffee, tea, red wine or smoking can stain the composite. Polishing can usually restore the original shade. (This effect appears gradually over the years.)

Prices vary by tooth and clinic but are generally lower than porcelain veneers. The final fee depends on the number of teeth treated and the complexity of the work. See our price list for guidance.

Results can be viewed in our own before-and-after gallery.

Care for them just like natural teeth: brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and schedule regular professional check-ups and cleanings. Avoid biting very hard objects and limit staining foods or drinks (coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco) to keep the veneers looking their best.
