Dental Problem Behind Skin Issues – Don’t Spend Only on Cosmetics!
I have always taken great care of my teeth, yet due to an over-drilled filling one of them had to undergo root canal treatment four years ago.
‘It is a relatively new discovery that an inflammatory process developing in one part of the body can trigger disease in another.’ At first it seemed astonishing that a dental infection could be behind my eczema. Yet this is exactly what happened: the bacteria causing the inflammation, or the toxins they produced, reached the skin on my face through the bloodstream or lymphatic system and caused a rash.
Unfortunately, neither dermatologists nor cosmetic or laser treatments could relieve the symptom, so I decided to consult a dentist as well. Dr. László Póti saw on the panoramic X-ray and the in-office CT scan that my root-treated tooth was indeed inflamed.
The next step was to eliminate the inflammation around the root tip, which required a new ‘microscope-assisted’ root canal treatment. Unlike traditional root canal therapy, the microscopic approach saved my tooth painlessly in a single session with perfect cleaning. After the treatment, as the inflammation subsided, my eczema symptoms diminished and disappeared completely within a few days.
