A dental problem behind skin problems – don't just spend money on cosmetics!

I have always taken great care of my teeth. Unfortunately, four years ago one of them needed root canal treatment after it was drilled too deeply during a filling replacement.

“It is a relatively recent discovery that an inflammatory process in one part of the body can trigger disease in another.” At first, it really did seem surprising that dental inflammation could be behind my eczema. But that is what happened: the bacteria causing the inflammation, or the toxins they produced, reached the skin on my face through the blood or lymphatic system and caused a rash there.

Unfortunately, neither dermatologists nor cosmetic and laser treatments could help with the symptoms, so I decided to consult a dentist as well. Dr László Póti could already see on the panoramic X-ray and the CT scan taken on site that my root-treated tooth was indeed inflamed.

The next step was to eliminate the inflammation around the root tip, which required another root canal treatment, this time under a microscope. Unlike conventional root canal treatment, the microscopic procedure saved my tooth painlessly, in a single visit, with thorough cleaning. After the treatment, as the inflammation subsided, my eczema symptoms also decreased and disappeared completely a few days later.

To anyone going through something similar: it is worth visiting a dentist even if you have no dental complaints!

Dr Orsolya's flawless work also contributed to the improved overall result: she performed gum contouring to make my teeth look longer.
