Woman calling the dental clinic while touching her cheek.

If your gum or face becomes swollen after root canal treatment , please call our clinic . Contact us even if there is little or no pain. Swelling should be examined, especially if it is getting larger.

Tell us when you first noticed the swelling, where it appeared, and whether you have a fever. Increasing swelling, fever or difficulty opening your mouth may require treatment the same day. If you cannot reach us, contact an emergency dental service or an emergency department.

If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, if the swelling spreads rapidly towards your neck, or if swelling around the eye is accompanied by visual problems, call 112 immediately.

Do not squeeze, press or puncture the swollen area. Do not start taking leftover antibiotics without medical advice. The appropriate treatment should be determined following a dental examination.
